Sitges is a cosmopolitan resort set on a headland at the northern end of Spain's Costa Dorada, only 25 kilometers from Barcelona.

Now Sitges includes a trendy laid-back Bohemian atmosphere and is extremely popular with the gay community. With Catalan tapas bars, restaurants, fashion stores, designer shops and antique shops the town attracts many trendy arty people. The gorgeous seafront promenade and the narrow meandering streets of the old town offer a welcome rest from the hustle and bustle of the main city.

Away from the beach activities include hiking in the Garraf Mountains, horse rides along the coastal trails and golfing. For the more adventurous there's skydiving, hang-gliding, hot-air ballooning, 4x4 adventure trips and quad biking.

Sitges is home to the famous Carnival, lasting for days on end and attracting tens of thousands of people. Watch out for the late bargains to Sitges and go through the amazing carnival drag displays.



Other events which occur in Sitges include the International Film Festival, the Corpus Christi exhibition, the Classic Car Rally, Jazz and Tango Festivals and several concerts throughout the summer months.

This vibrant town has a typically Mediterranean climate with more than 300 hours of sunshine per year. During July and August temperatures frequently reach 28C and humidity levels could be high.
